Mariah vs. Nicki: Round 1

This week's Fierce Award goes to Nicki Minaj: the feisty rapper best known for her wardrobe and barbed, caustic retorts. Recently, her royal rumble with Mariah Carey went viral. Following a heated dispute over a contestant, Minaj was heard saying, “I’m not putting up with her highness over there.” Noted.

It didn't stop there. When Barbara Walters "aired Carey’s grievances," Minaj Tweeted: “Barbara walters didn’t reach out from our team. I guess we’re too dangerous.” She added, “I don’t call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave.” Double fierce.

"American Idol" started going down hill after Simon left two years ago. Now, interest in the ageing 10-year-old talent show is heating up thanks to the gangsta vibe Minaj is generating.

A day after the Carey-Minaj verbal joust, Walters said the latter warned Mariah: “I love you, but we might fight again.”

More than the singing in "American Idol," it's the cat fights I'm most excited about.

I just wish Mariah would not stoop down to Minaj's level.

The fact is magkaiba sila ng type ng music (Mariah= with class and quality, Nicki= bitchcraft, harlotry and trash). So it's pretty hard to compare.

But I guess Nicki would never even be able to imagine reaching stardom and diva-hood, the way Mariah achieved them.

Behind Mariah is a following of 30-something crowd who have good taste in music and installed her as pop queen in the early and late 90's. Ngayon na lang siguro bumaba siya sa kanyang trono (and besides there aren't any diva at all nowadays)

On the other hand, behind Nicki is a trail of young brats who can really appreciate terrible glittering trash, and they are the majority.

Oh well, what can I say, iba na ang trip ngayong panahon na ito.

Anyway, thanks for visiting my blog!

Mr. Tripster: Mariah handled herself pretty well. Quite admirable considering the barrage of insults Nicki hurled at her. :-)

there's something about this that seems staged. like maybe they needed to save a dying show? in all her interviews (with the exception of the ones that involve lil kim) nicki minaj has always seemed graceful and respectful. thoughts?

citybuoy: That's what some people are saying, that everything was staged. Yey! I'm looking forward to more cat fights. :D
