Teaser Posters for The Wolverine and Stoker

The boundaries of design are converging. Movie posters are looking more and more like book covers and art pieces.

Wolverine takes its cue from traditional oriental paintings. The Japanese-inspired insignia in the lower left corner is clever and the red/black contrast is perfect.

Stoker is all whimsy. Fine details abound, enclosing Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska like a black wreath. It's so organic you wouldn't notice the numerous plot clues jammed in the poster: a black coffin, a spade, a grand piano, a spider. a skull, and God knows what else. It doesn't look like a movie poster and that makes it all the more memorable. If Tim Burton and Björk had a love child, this is how it would look like.

I don't care about Wolverine. Really, another hero movie.

I was freakin' out when I saw the trailer of Stoker. Nalaman ko lang ito because of your post. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You have no idea how much i freaked out of joy when I saw it. You see, I am a fan of Nicole Kidman, BIG TIME.

I tried stalking her at the Venice and Rome film festivals, one of the few European film festivals she regularly attends. It's always an epic fail. Di ko man lang nakuhanan sa camera.

PLUS, the film director is the Korean god of film-making himself PARK CHAN WOOK! PARK CHAN WOOK? Yes, PARK CHAN WOOK! You could easily detect the euphoria and subliminal aura the trailer emits which tells you that this is Park Chan Wook's work.

I go crazy over his Vengeance Trilogy. I bought the trilogy. I especially love Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

I've seen Thirst too in this year's edition of the Korea Florence Film Festival. It's an outstanding film, a real masterpiece.

i'm so overwhelmed it's like I'm having an orgasm right now. Hahaha!

Thanks a lot!

citybuoy: I like the Wolverine poster too! It's very refreshing; it's different from the usual Hollywood movie poster. :-)

Mr. Tripster: I love Park Chan-wook! The Vengeance trilogy is quite cool! Among the three, my favorite's Old Boy. Who could ever forget that octopus scene?

Thirst's pretty awesome! Very raw and gritty.

I like I'm a Cyborg but That's Okay also. Cutesy, but not overly sentimental.
